Pickathon: Eco-friendly Indie Rock

Pickathon is 3 days of indie-rock-amazingness with an eye on the environment. Only 3,500 guests may attend, so there’s room to stretch out on the grass with an ice cold glass of local brew and a plate of Portland’s famous food cart eats. Music genres range from rock to bluegrass with performances by the likes of Feist, Blind Pilot, Wolf Parade, Warpaint, Courtney Barnett, Mac DeMarco, Parquet Courts, Love as Laughter and Black Mountain. It’s an intimate music fest, renowned as much for tunes as eco-friendliness on an 80-acre estate. Masterful wooden stages snuggled in forest groves, and intricate fabric canopies designed by GuildWorks, are Pickathon signatures, held on the 1st weekend of each August at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley Oregon.

About

Pickathon: Eco-friendly Indie Rock

Pickathon began in 1999 as a small roots, indie rock, folk, bluegrass, and R&B gathering. It’s grown but remains intimate, and today is recognized as one of the cleanest festivals in the country, including clean electricity from solar panels. Plastic is banned, water is free (bring a bottle or buy a Pickathon metal cup), food booths provide reusable bamboo plates & utensils, and dishwashers clean plates ready for other hungry guests. Revellers have the ozone-friendly option of camping for the weekend or heading home each night on Pickathon shuttles – just a 20 minute ride to Portland.

Pickathon After Dark

When the stages go dark, don’t worry about the party ending. Fellow festival-goers bring their guitars so jams continue deep into the night especially at the 2 Jam Zone camping areas: Glade Jam & Stump Jam. But, for guests who want to sleep, there are quiet sleeping zones including one just for families with young kiddos.

Wooden Stage Headliners

Surrounded by 80 acres of meadow and forest, 6 intimate wooden stages are nestled amidst gangly woodlands, and on these funky platforms, often adorned with branches & coloured lights, Pickathon Festival headliners spin rock-rooty-folk-blues notes. Performers have included Ty Segall, Courtney Barnett, Mandolin Orange, Jeff Tweedy from Wilco, Yo La Tengo & Beach House, at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, outside Portland Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest of the USA.

Pickathon is intimate independent music & eco-friendly family fun in Happy Valley!
