Kendal Calling: Cumbrian Music + AleKendal Calling is an award-winning showcase for local music champions, a CAMRA Real Ale Festival brewery line-up and the Calling’s own Kendale & Oh Deer + eats from British classics by Seacow to worldly wonders by Strumpets with Crumpets & Piggie Smalls, surrounded by thumping brass ensembles, massive UK acts, house parties, Lost Disco-electronic forest, interactive sensory stages, cutting-edge dance, Garden of Eden pampering, popup cinema + Cumbrian Casbah market, all set to a new theme each year. 12,000 fans flock to the natural amphitheatre for emerging acts, commissioned sculptures/art installations + laidback boutique camping for family frolics amid the green hills of Cumbria Lake District at Lowther Deer Park near Hackthorpe England. |
||
Kendal Calling Festival is a back-to-nature trip through the lush scenery of the Lake District – being on the small side at 12,000 fans, the stages and campsites nestle well among wooded clearings – which aims to give fans a sensory overload, with the Garden of Eden providing a range of massages and yoga classes; Jägerhaus’s bands, bars and 56-herb-sensory-mist + a disco deep in the forest of Lost Eden, which plays house, techno and disco long into the night.
Complying with the theme, the Woodlands stage showcases the best of the North West music scene, but they’re no slouch when it comes to massive names, going well outside of the Lake district with previous acts such as Blondie, Pendulum, Dizzee Rascal, Mumford & Sons, Rudimental & Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds along with the biggest British names performing on some of the most interesting and fantastically decorated stages & tents.
From Pieminister (handmade Cumbrian pies) to Tibetan Kitchen (dumplings, stirfries, curries and stews), there is something for all worldly tastes – eventful culinary highlights include Tim Peaks Café, owned by The Charlatan’s frontman Tim Burgess, mixes DJs, book readings and a lot more with coffee, tea, cereal & cakes and The Real Ale Festival, which has its own line-up of local talent all from an area famous for its pubs and brews.
Kendal Calling is a cosy and mystical weekend in the woods!

Season & WeatherSeason: Summer
Temperature: 10 to 18 °C
Cumbria Lake District weather in July is cool to warm and sometimes hot, with a fair chance of rain. Although July is the region’s hottest month, it’s non too hot at night especially when camping in a field. Take a jacket, warm camping gear, and remember, it can get muddy if it rains! |
