Bochum Total is a gargantuan celebration of avant-garde, multi-genre music from Latin-soul-flamenco-blues-rock by Daniel Puente Encina & indie-electronica by Fuck Art, Let’s Dance! to heady-punk-rock from Radio Havana and up to 75 live bands during 4 days amidst bacchanal-style street mayhem with a million revellers. Since 1986, the festival has evolved into an event that sets the tone for musical experimentation and is now a leader in discovering tomorrow’s stars. Bochum Total’s main venue for sonic indulgence and total debauchery is a chic gastronomic district with outdoor café-pubs & beer gardens called Bermuda3eck (Bermuda Triangle) around Viktoria Street, Konrad-Adenauer Square and Brüder Street in the pulsing heart of Bochum Germany.

A million partiers get sucked into the Bochum Bermuda Triangle for 4 days of musical indulgence in July.

It’s Bochum Total - a bacchanal that transforms 2 km of the city centre into a party zone - with 4 outdoor stages and as many as 75 rock, pop, jazz and multi-genre bands, plus a multitude of offstage performances (+ readings and cabaret shows) in the area known as Bermuda3eck (Bermudadreieck) that includes Viktoria Street, Brüder Street and Konrad-Adenauer Square with its myriad restaurants, cafes, bars, lounges and clubs.

Culinary pleasures (and of course lots of König Pilsener), street debauchery and music mayhem has been captivating all who enter the triangular Bochum Bermuda3eck since 1986, making it one of the largest outdoor summer festivals in Europe.

And it’s free!

Bochum Total Programme

Bochum Festival has avant-garde sounds by up-and-coming talent, and over the years, many stars have been born on Bochum Total stages, like the electro-pop-rock group MIA. Headliners like pop singer Ingo Pohlmann, indie-punk rockers Jupiter Jones and the vocal-percussion-metal of Van Canto also draw crowds into the triangle. Bochum line-ups have included Dutch acoustic rockers DI-RECT, metal-core experts Eskimo Callboy, pop idol Thomas Godoj, British hard-rockin’ Heaven’s Basement, Australian punk rockers Paper Arms, Swedish indie-pop-folk musicians Skilla, and indie-electronica with Fuck Art, Let’s Dance!

The area where the festival is held, the Bermuda Triangle, Bermuda3eck or Bermudadreieck Bochum, is the city’s gastronomic zone full of snazzy outdoor cafes, international restaurants with every possible type of cuisine, as well as bars, pubs, lounges, clubs and places to party after hours.

There are a zillion options, not only at regular restaurants, but at festival stalls that offer everything you could possibly want.

BYOB but NO Glass

It’s a street festival, so it’s ok to carry your own eats & drinks. The only condition is that alcohol & snacks must be in plastic bottles/containers. Glass in the Bermuda3eck area is forbidden during the festivities.
