ATLFF: Academy Award-qualifying

Atlanta Film Festival, started by Atlanta Film Society in 1976 as a small indie event, is now 10 days of screenings (200+ films a year) + indie talks & screenplay readings; a major US film affair luring 25,000 fans, premiering feature-length movies like Mud (Matthew McConaughey), The Cabin in the Woods (Whedon/Goddard), and Winter Bone (Jennifer Lawrence), and awarding prizes to New Mavericks. ATLFF + Midtown Art Cinema (with year-round avant-garde shows) host horror, sci-fi, experimental, shorts & foreign flicks, while 7 Stages Theater & historic Plaza Theatre are home bases. Goat Farm Arts Center adds a quirky multimedia sound+vision twist to this springtime film fest with live outdoor projected shows in West Midtown Atlanta Georgia, USA.

ATLFF: Academy Award-qualifying

Atlanta Film Festival features 200+ global screenings including experimental, horror and sci-fi, selected from 3,000+ submissions, attracting 25,000+ fans and filmmakers over 10 days. What began as a local indie event is now one of the oldest film festivals in the US, attracting A-list stars and showcasing feature-length box-office hits like 500 Days of Summer (Joseph Gordon Levitt), Mud (Mathew McConaughey), The Spectacular Now (Miles Teller & Brie Larson), and the world premiere of Icelandic sensation Metalhead (Ragnar Bragason).

Celebs Guests

Pink Peach & New Mavericks

Despite acclaim as one of the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World (by California’s MovieMaker), ATLF & Atlanta Film Society remain dedicated to discovering film jewels that explore controversial themes & experimental genres by curating 80% from independent submissions + year-round contest like the Pink Peach for LGBTQ flicks and New Mavericks for female-directed shorts.  

Creative Conference

ATLF Creative Conference is a retreat for screenplay contest winners to develop and produce content with help from pro guests via panel discussions & workshops.

  • Sound + Vision = film projections, multimedia & art installations + live music at the funky brick complex (built in the late 1800s) in the artsy district of West Midtown.
  • The walls of Goat Farm Arts Center, what once was an industrial building (now a studio for 450+ artists), have been used as a backdrop onto which films, lighting and images are projected for crowd-drawing outdoor evening performances during the Atlanta Film Festival.
